The Independent Artist Symposium

This event was created to offer the unsigned artists the opportunity to receive the latest music industry information, trends and opportunities that aren’t commonly known to the average upcoming performing artists. The event will feature industry speakers, fact bearers, A&R’s and Talent Buyers from various venues from around the South to inform Artists on requirements that will get them to the next level in the music industry.This event will cover 3 day 2 night of around the clock music development for artists who want to increase their knowledge of the industry as well as network with other artists, producers, radio personnel and most of all your fanbase the buyers of your music.1st day of this event will be the sign-up and meet and greet along with turning in of press kits, etc. Artists will meet representative from both ASCAP & BMI to check the status of their artist information with whichever of the 2 music organization they are with or to sign-up those who aren’t members of either music organization. Also artists will meet later the same evening to begin the weekend of events starting with the new music listening party. Each artists will submit a song to the deejay’s and all those songs will be played until every artists songs in played. Party will end early so everyone who came to participate in the 2nd day of the event can get an early start.

 

2nd day of the event will begin early, from 10:00 am until Noon there will be a Music Industry question & answer session covering a broad selection of topics answered by a panel of qualified professionals. Once this particular portion of the event is covered there will be a lunch break for 1 hour where after lunch artists who are scheduled to begin their physical auditions will start as scheduled. Auditions for each artist will be five to seven minutes and after each act finishes they will be taken aside and critiqued in hopes that they take all advice in and use it for their showcase spot on Sunday before the Representative of Island Def Jam. Auditions will run a total of 7 hours with a total of 4 – 15 minutes breaks for the judges with everything ending at 8:00 pm sharp, only 20 acts will make it to the Sunday Showcase Round to perform in front the A & R, Scouts and Talent Buyers.

 

3rd & final day of this event will be the Showcase Round, 20 acts for the previous auditions will get to perform live in front the Island Def Jam Representative, A & R’s and Talent Buyers. Artist will have 5 minutes to make it happen on stage and can not run over in time allowed or it will cost you your final score points. It is without question that every artist who participate will need every point they can get. After all acts have completed their performances the judges will go to a room where the points will be added up and once that tally is received we will return to the main room and make the announcement of the winner of the showcase and at the time that person or persons will receive instructions from those individuals who seek to go beyond that event to the next level with that act. This portion of the show will begin around 5:00 pm to be complete by 9:00pm.

 

Cost for this Independent Artist Symposium, Development & Showcase – Early registration is: $99.00 for the entire 3 day event with early registration beginning on Monday October 22nd 2012 to
Saturday December 31st 2012. All Registration received after Tuesday January 1st is: $149.99 and this price is good only through the month of January 2013 until Friday February 1st 2013 where the price raises to: $199.99 until the day of the events. As stated earlier price includes all 3 days of this event and passes to all related events. So take advantage of the early sign up.
